JL, I have used similar time cycle techniques on indices with considerable success. On April 15th of last year I posted about this on the XJO thread. Whilst most other punters were talking about the XJO smashing up through 6000 I offered an opinion based on time cycles that we may be about to see a significant fall. April 13th turned out to be a high and the rest is history. Then in late January of this year, when the same punters who predicted the smashing of 6000 were all predicting that the world was about to fall into the abyss, I again used time cycles and I calculated a predicted low for Jan 21. The low came on Jan 20th. Then just a week or so ago the same crowd conceded that I got that one right but surely the world was now about to collapse. Using time cycles once again I told them that we should see the market continue to climb a wall of worry and that I have May 17th as a likely date for any major change in market sentiment. They scoffed at that idea but the markets have continued to rise since then. Whether I will be ultimately right with my May 17th prediction I cannot say until we get there. I am very fallible and don't get everything right all the time. Yes I did sell 1PG in the high $2 because I was looking for a back filling of the gaps. Time proved that I wasn't wrong on that count but where I failed horribly was that I did not predict that 1PG would take the scenic route via $5.60 ........In regards to 1PG and shorters maybe you are correct. Using time cycles on the indices is one thing because it would be very hard even for a large institution to manipulate an entire index with shorting but it would definitely be easier for them to do so with a 200 mill dollar stock like 1PG. Whether my time cycles for 1PG work as they have for the XJO and the DJIA remains to be seen. We should have some idea by tomorrow.
