I'm chilled Hokey, but I think you are incorrect about A2 being taken out.
Exactly (except a Chinese dairy company and they already own 30% of Synlait) which dairy company is in a position to take them out at the moment. They are all in a little strife at the moment (and Fonterra can't raise funds easily with its structure) including the overseas groups.
I agree that had they done it at .80c they may have succeeded before the milk price drop, but not now.
Other companies are branding (Pura) that their milk has A2, they did this because A2 was taking market share. However as stated by a previous poster, it still gives them tummy upsets, which is why it won't work if the milk has A1 protein in it.
As for a small market.....2 Billion Chinese, 20% middle/upper class, thats 400M potential customers for a start.
Yes I would pay $x for a product that means I can partake in my favorite beverage.....coffee. At $10 I would just make it last a bit longer.
