Just a comment on TA as I have been involved with many many approaches in the past. I am a fan of Bollinger Bands, trend lines, support and reistance and fibonacci. Whoever mentioned Stan Weinsteins book is on the money. Also, Elliot and GANN show very interesting wave patterns that can be more fortelling that the simple average pricing methogologies. Some of these are in my experience riding the whipsaw from hell. Good luck with that one!
Also need to consider volumes at intraday price points and watch for "plays". TA wont pick these up well but an astute eye watching the screen has a better chance. Also look for impulsive versus corrective moves, they tell a lot.
Also, watch for sentimemt shifts, insto macro actions - are they moving from small to large caps etc... Do fundamentals and impending announcement time cycles impact on the activity. What does a run up look like?
I have learned over the last 15 years that there is an art to feeling your way through TA - these days I rarely use MA, RSI MACD.
Simple point is that those who adopt a narrow approach are not likely to be around to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Short term? Can get away with it - until you dont.
