Granny has caught the flu by the sound (crickets) of things! Not sure about Reg, maybe Granny's online alter ego?
I personally think TAH discussions with Entain and Apollo are niceties - TAH simply being polite. Who owns the Australian?? - (hold that thought). There is no way (already stated by racing's own saviour, Pete the Greek V'landys) that TAH will not be sold to an offshore consortium. Ask any key racing stakeholder what they think of English racing and they will say that for forty years, bookmakers (such as Ladbrokes - owned by Entain) have had too much power and not given back to the industry and now they race for pennies in the pound. I'd personally put a line through those bids.
We have all read that TAH spun into two will allow the lotteries arm to flourish. Sadly, David Attenborough (TAH) has performed at a complete opposite end to the spectrum to his name sake that continues his crusade to save the planet on the wagering front. Just look at the TAH website and app!!! Having fallen asleep at the wheel from the get-go, Attenborough allowed the corporate bookmakers to flourish which included M Tripp. Tripp sold Sportsbet around the same time Attenborough commenced his CEO tenure at TAH and guess who the industry is now looking to garner the skill set of? M Tripp, a major shareholder and future beneficiary of BETs success. Go figure! With the dinosaur of Attenborough out of the way - blue sky is ahead for TAH wagering arm.
Now, we will always need a totaliser system to create liquidity in the market and that license is held by TAH. So why wouldn't another clever little company (BET) go around the world buying up the totaliser systems with the foresight to one day have a huge, global pool? On top of that, leverage the success of fixed odds gambling that Australia has seen skyrocket in popularity (thanks in part to M Tripp at Sportsbet in the early 2000's). Granny, you were on about EXPANSION!
Now something is beginning to smell like a fox. A very wealthy fox with the mastheads and television stations to propel their own gambling brand worldwide. But the fox has no proven experience in the game but knows a little company and a few clever people to get it done with low barriers of entry given the target market are already tuned in!
Whether that means buy BET shares, I don't know. But bet on the technology, bet on the people and bet on the fact that the house always wins.
