Just a thought.....
Supposing he had a friendly buyer for the options ( and assuming the terms of the issue did not prevent transfer to a third party) he could then claim the CGT relief on the sale of the options . The friendly buyer could then exercise and sell on market making only enough profit to cover purchase and brokerage.....and a friendly lunch or two......mmmmmm everybody happy !!!
