Report from Majors Creek Community Liasion Committee
    Article in Braidwood Times

"Hi all, as chair of the MC Community Liaison Committee I was asked what's happened since the public meeting last week. So, here 'tis.
May I remind readers that the MCCLC exists in order to keep transparent and unambiguous lines of communication open between us and the mine. The only agenda of this committee is to get "Best Outcomes for Majors Creek". The meeting responded to Cortona's quite thorough letter with another series of questions. This "slow motion dialogue" seems to be working quite well as people on both sides of the equation have time to consider the ideas carefully and produce appropriate responses. Some of the questions asked really should be asked of government agencies but the ones that Cortona can answer are being considered right now by Peter van der Borgh (Managing Director of Cortona Resources) and some of his team.
The committee met with Peter last thursday evening for 2 hours where we explored/ debated many of the questions coming from the meeting. Peter and his colleagues addressed a number of ongoing concerns but over the next week or two he will be given all the questions in writing and he will respond in writing also.
The committee will circulate Cortona's responses as soon as we can after we get them.
Reflecting the points raised by community members, the main issues "explored" on thursday with Cortona were noise, the road and water.
Have a look elsewhere on the website for detailed information on the first round of information. As soon as we have responses to the next round we will publish them.
Might I use this opportunity to encourage you all to attend the public meetings so you can have your say.
There is an important meeting coming up on Saturday 15th of May. Lawyers from the Environmental Defenders Office will be here to address the community, field questions and even have private discussions afterwards with any interested members of the community."

Of course all CRC s/h respect the quality of life of Braidwood residents but I'm reminded of the definition of a camel: A horse designed by a committee.
