Well to my knowledge Cardiocel is the only product that doesn't seem to undergo calcification (at least up to app. 9yrs now and still counting).
This will turn out to be a huge advantage over all the other patches currently being used.
Having to have your ribcage cut open every so often to replace calcified and thus less efficient patches
will not be the preferred option for anyone let alone parents of young children who need patches used on them. Also this is a very expensive option versus using a Cardiocel patch that may well be a one off operation lasting a lifetime.
What would you choose if you had a young child in need of cardiac surgery involving a patch - I know what I would choose. Also one such operation a lifetime will obviously be much cheaper than repeated operations. As well medical insurers would prefer a one off operation don't you think??
