Hi Nick,
I reckon that these days the TV cricket commentators are paid per word uttered. For mine, they totally detract from the enjoyment of watching it on live tv.
They also love to
* speak quickly (as they are paid/word),
* actually front the cameras peering intently at the camera lens,
* demonstrate wherever possible by wielding a cricket bat repeatedly pontificating how a particular shot was/should have been played.
They are shockingly out of place to older cricket fans - who can recall how good some of the commentators were 'back then'.
