The reason why I watch Pawn stars and read a book on Rick Harrison after I heard an interview on him about his childhood and how he had seizures. I was keen to find out how it has affected his learning etc. One of my family members had a similiar childhood and spent a great deal of time out of school. It took Mum and myself to convince family member to keep learning in the field he desired. He did and went on to the career of his choice.
There's also a back story to Rick's Dad who was quite a character. There was a real commitment there on getting Rick well during the hard times. Recently Rick lost a son to a drug addiction and has been quite angry at the goings on in the USA due to the gangs, etc. So no guessing who he'll vote for.
I don't watch the show all the time just when it looks interesting.
