Parsifal, big e - I have wondered about that and remembered my first introduction to skin cancer. Glebe Sydney - early 60s - elderly neighbour - actually in his mid-fifties, but we were young . . . . always wore glasses - freckles - must have been a red-head - one day, conversationally, he took off his glasses and the tops of his ears came along with them plus a bit of nose.
Turns out he had skin cancers on his nose really bad and on the tops of his ears and the glasses contained all the necessary spares to make him presentable. I was deeply shocked and asked him what happened and he said "too much sun and surf in my youth" which didn't stop me to go swimming whenever I could, but luckily I get bored with just hours in the sun - on a towel - to get a tan - so rarely did do that even though my colouring is similar.
Today I did have a little sun-bake - but it was for 10 minutes only, but 'boy' does it make you feel good!
