G'Day from WA, the REAL Australia LOL.
"It's an extreme blow for Premier Roger Cook's battery building ambitions."
The above is part of Nine news last night, re BHP putting Nickle operations in suspension over here due to Indonesia flooding the market with cheap Nickle.
Not sure what this has to do with batteries?
There was a proposal to have a Lithium processing refinery in Kwinana which is where the Nickle refinery is and I think this may have included battery production as well?
If memory serves me correct, the Lion was going to send their product there to be refined as well (the new lithium plant to be built).
The Nickle refinery is a bit of a memory lane moment.
I began work there (many moons ago or once upon a time 1973 lol) as an apprentice Fitter Machinist and worked there for a total of 15 yrs as a Mechanical Fitter.
That was before BHP took it over, as it was called Western Mining Corporation back then.
There was a downturn as well just before I left and they called for voluntary redundancy's, which I opted for and changed job directions -> Jack of all trades lol.
