Fishi, I'm only repeating the opinions of some of the locals. My ex (Salvadorian) has been there lately and I guess she has expressed to me what some of the opinions of the man are.
It may be petty jealousy or other reasons such as his self interest /aggrandising? I cannot know. She is not good at articulating why she and some other locals don't particularly like him, but did agree that his crack down on violence is working as it obviously is, and good on him.
However, as brutal as he has been, his methods are effective and hopefully will completely disrupt the violent criminal activity.
