Brisbane bicentenary around about now, 200yrs ago in 1825 if one goes by the setting up of the Morten Bay penal colony/settlement, mid 1823 a couple of castaways found Brisbane river after being washed up on Morten Island, in 2024 they had a the penal colony Redcliffe but moved in May 2025 to along the Brisbane river where what we call Queens Wharf is today.
They celebrated Brisbanes 100yr Bday in 2024 so it wasn't linked to the convict past and the real reason Brisbane exists to begin with.
Don't know if Brisbane council is going to celebrate the bicentenary, i haven't heard anything.
Does your city celebrate it's Birthday?
