Yea, we were at parity briefly. Was that when Gillard thought an excess profits tax was a good thing?
In our old money, along with bobs, deeners and quids was a "dollar" or 5 bob [50c today for the young uns]. That was what the GIs got for their green from taxi drivers etc. So in my lifetime our currency has lost 75% of it's purchasing power viz the Yankee dollar.
