it's a funny thing about 'teams' that move in to identify 'waste' and 'excess'

I saw a stunning example of it in Tassie just before I left to live OS

there's an electrical contracting company in Tassie - small business, but did millions per year in business - probably employed about 50 people, maybe up to 100.

So, they want to cut costs, so let the accountants loose on cost cutting - look for waste, look for excess.

So, they look at salaries - and standing out like a beacon is one electrician. He's paid way more than the other electricians -----

so, they terminate him, rather than go through the process of cutting his salary back - by talking to him, that's deemed too hard and too time wasting.

    So, bang - he's gone.

All of a sudden, projects - big projects - have the wheels falling off, left, right and centre.

Gosh - what they missed was that this bloke they sacked - he never wanted to be in management, he was a bloke on the tools and that's where he liked to be

BUT - he was 'the man' ----------- when the other sparkies had a problem - he was the one they went to.

So, if you were a sparkie and you were managing the team building an aged care centre and you came up with an issue and you were out of your depth -

you went for a drive and you spoke to Mr Magic - the guy who'd done it all, who always had an answer and would always help

and - the company had sacked him - because his 'cost' was higher than the others

and that is a prime example of what happens when you put ignorant people into places with a carte blanche mission of to - QUICKLY look for waste and excess and just CUT CUT CUT -

shoot first - don't ask questions

need more examples? ---------- look no further than Boeing

a company destroyed by cost saving fools
