I just checked up on the coal plants because it sounded a bit too logical for Germany and the EU so i wasn't sure and....

I think they re-opened some coal plants in 2022/23 after Russia/Ukraine war but they also shut down 15 perfectly good coal-fired power plants in 2024 and also the Moorburg plant in March 2025 which is like Europes most advanced plant and only operated for six years and cost $3billion to build.

They are blowing up coal plants to build Gas plants LOL. They must have more money than brains.

The new Gas plants are delayed and need to keep some coal on standby.

Heres the latest i could find, from Jan 2025. https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Germany-May-Need-Standby-Coal-Plants-for-Longer-Than-Planned.html

Here they are blowing up the $3bil 6yr old advanced coal plant, crazy stuff.

Yeh, Germany giving Ukraine more weapons, i think Uk is too or trying and France will be up to something more than likely. imo.

They have a so called roadmap to phase out Russian gas, both pipeline gas and LNG by the end of 2027. This includes a proposed ban on nordstream as part of the 18th sanctions package against Russia and the ban involves banning new contract creation at or by the end of 2025.

These are only proposals i think, nothing overly concrete but they are theoretically on a path to phase them out by end 2027.
The War won't last forever though, a lot can happen in 2.5 yrs these days.
