Over history, civilisations establish, flourish and eventually decline.
The catalyst for decline is often comfort, hubris and excesses.
For years, the rise of what we now call wokeism and its excesses near the peak disturbed me … such a frivolous waste of thought and effort to seek to rewrite lived history, to demonise authors like Enid Blighton and to ostracise writers like JK Rowling … whilst governments and their institutions fixate on such nonsense, national vision, innovation, policy and national progress stall and we stagnate in the banal and nothingness. On this I suspect you, 31 and myself are on the same page.
But for you to see this as a short step ladder to the communist regimes of North Korea, Russia and China is overreach if I am being kind, and delusional if I am not.
Just as wokeism became a “movement”, “anti wokeism” in isolation could have too … pushback because the pendulum had swung too far … to call for the destruction and dismantling of western government institutions and processes and worse still to root for their replacement by dictatorial Fascism (Trump’s trajectory for America) with no checks and balances is that pendulum on a return over-swing.
