    Yeah stumps are a pain. Thats why i got rid of my grinder haha. Roots in this climate will generally extend to the dripline of the tree, so however long your branches are on the tree, is where the root tips like to hang out. Thats where most of your water absorption takes place, and the leaves do a good job of sending the rain to where it needs to go. (Maybe not in this weather, it sounds like my roof is about to blow off.) Call your local arborist and theyll get it out fast and easy with a grinder. A crepe myrtle stump shouldnt cost you 100 bucks, unless its exceptionally large for a myrtle or tough to access. Youll be able to replant much easier too because you wont be dealing with any roots or compacted soil left over. Get that stump diluted!!
