    many women in their late fifties and up are struggling. Lots of reasons for it but the thing that makes me quite cross is the attitude of many towards people who are struggling - as if it is their fault and not a reflection of systemic issues Of course I guess you can argue that they’ve allowed circumstances and choices to get them there but it simplifies the problem.

    the government appears to want to put people who get pensions of any sort into their indue card. It costs around $10000 per card per annum to administer (see across figures). It is based on an assumption that people on pensions need help to budget and to control habits. I wonder what difference it would make if they gave that $10000 to the individual rather than a company based in the US. I wonder what will happen to small businesses who can’t sign up to the card. I wonder what will happen to people who will no longer be able to buy farm gate produce, pay for art courses or other goods with cash.

    what sort of cruel judgmental society are we creating.
