Fortunately everyone has a different idea of what good looking is.
Some people look better as they age - maybe they become more comfortable in their own skin and feel happy just being
themselves and not making the big effort.
Brains would always attract me too.
Happened to a friend where wife no 1 had brains and no 2 is painfully dumb. At first she was tolerated but I saw through
her as trouble. Others did too so a pity for him maybe.
