A long enough history on the chart is relative to what indicator math your using be it, ma, sma, ema, adx etc, the math calculates it from the individual bars, if it's a daily chart the bars are daily, if it's a monthly chart the bars are monthly, yearly chart, yearly bars and so on, therefore a 200 sma on a monthly chart will look different to a 200 sma on a daily chart etc etc.
