40 000 people die everyday from cancer in which early detection would have a definite impact. Something for management to consider with regard to a stalling trial. The FDA already considered this and hence the fast track as they have a sense of the lives that can be saved. Hopefully a sense of lives being lost will be front of mind when considering the need to accelerate the current trial.
