Yes I am aware of Keswisk Island issues , what you are advocating would be legal and a better alternative than breaking a signed agreement , another option would be embargo any cargo that has been involved in UN verified slave labour from China .

After personally being on the right side as a plaintiff of a number of agreements that were broken including by govt departments over the years , the defendant tends to come out not out with t he poorer reputation but also financially worse off even if morally correct as in one of the cases .
One only has to look at Tanzania Poland (ASX listed PDZ) and Thailand (KCN Keysbrook mine ) and those countries illegal changing of the mining laws in the last 5 years or Argentina's IMF failure (default) to repay loans in 2001 and 2020 from memory to see what happens when signed company agreements are broken and the legal and financial turmoil that has caused those couuntries
Do we want to join the above countries or do AUstralians still believe in their word is their bond as with the Japanese and Kiwis !
So yes play by the rules but as Teddy Roosevelt said speak softly but carry a big stick , personally on that note what is happening is Morrison and the foreign minister tend to speak to loud but have only a very small stick !
They need to speak quieter but make some actual actions as currently they are all bark and no bite over China
