THE troubles at local marketing services group Photon have prompted international rivals to start running some numbers.
One group that has always kept an eye on the group is London-based marketing services group WPP.
Following the breakdown of brief acquisition talks several years ago, are executives from WPP, led by Martin Sorrell, circling its smaller rival?
The impending visit to Australia of Hamish McLennan, chief of WPP's Young & Rubicam global agency network, has sparked speculation WPP is more than an interested observer.
"Clearly, we will be talking about it," said a local source close to the group. "Everyone will be doing due diligence on Photon."
