tara007 - I'm just suggesting he doesn't have the sort of risk profile for someone who should be investing in equities and I keep suggesting he'd sleep better at night if his investments were Term Deposits.
When you invest in equities, you're investing in businesses. Small businesses in Australia have 90%+ failure rate in the five years after they commence. Big businesses also fail from time to time.
The reason equities, overall, deliver a higher return than Term Deposits is that they entail a higher amount of risk. And sometimes, things go wrong.
There doesn't seem to be any point coming into HotCopper as regularly as he does and whinging about the same thing over and over - ie that he hasn't achieved the return on this stock that he hoped (having bought in the pre merger hype days). He just doesn't seem to accept that he picked an underperformer. I'd also suggest the stock may be his only holding, and that he hasn't benefited from the rise in gold prices with any other stocks (another rookie error in not having a diversified portfolio.
This form is which is open to everyone but we're all aware that it can be used to hype up or down-ramp stocks (there's a case of exactly that in the news at the moment involving a former journalist using HotCopper to talk up a stock he was apparently being paid to promote.
If someone comes in here bagging management or whatever, time after time after time, perhaps using more than one name, you start to wonder if there isn't a hidden agenda. It could well be someone who just can't face up to putting too much money into just one unsuccessful (so far) stock or it could be something bit more sinister.
There's an old saying - the standard you walk past is the standard you accept.
I think it's reasonable to call out someone who doesn't offer any thoughts about the future of the company, or the announcements it makes but simply repeats, over and over, that he blames other people for the underperformance of his equities portfolio.
