It is a fair question (particularly as we get to the pointy end of product approvals and trials)
As pointed out it has been discussed before (i raised it as my biggest fear a few weeks ago) and indeed ecool raised it in his latest post.
That said, as mentioned above the current share holdings (ownership structure) would require SI and friends to support a takeover to enable it to happen and be a success.
I have stated before (as have others) that SI could easily take the money and go back to his passion of being a scientist running a division of a large pharma with all their resources.
However, my wife (who is a nurse and far more intune with the medical way of thinking than I) were discussing this very point last night.
She convinced me with the following statement:

She said I don't think SI will sell out, for the same reason Roger Federer (the highest paid sportsman on the planet) hasn't stopped playing tennis!
Its not the money, .....its his passion and whole host of other motivators (one being (as DDWN put it ) SI can see the stadium at the end of a marathon!

This I think is consistent with points raised previously Ddwn, I am now convinced they are right (at least for the foreseeable future).
My (and my wifes) opinion only, oh and DDWNs I think.
