Hi SallySet -- thanks for your thoughtful and challenging post. Keep in mind that the question was "what are my impressions of Appen's product offering" (current state), not "do I think Appen will ultimately be successful" (future state).

The TLR of my post was essentially this: Appen had a great offering at one time but due to industry changes coupled with mismanagement, their offerings became stale and undifferentiated. Nothing has happened in the last 3 years to make their offering less stale and more differentiated. That is "my impression of Appen's product offering".

That much I own.

My comment "but who knows" was intended to say (maybe poorly so) that I don't know what the future will be for Appen. I happen to think that Appen is a good deal at the moment and believe that their stock will recover some of its value and could return to the $10 range in the next 2-3 years. I believe this, not because their offering is special, but because they have a strong brand.

There might be a takeover, sure, but as I outlined in a previous post, I don't see any likely candidates for who would acquire them.
