What doesn't make sense here is that we know UMC has fantastic assets: the extent of which is becoming more apparent by the day.
What "incentives" could be encouraging the top twenty to even contemplate divestment in a market like this when anyone with an IQ above fifty would not that not even close to fair value would be realised.
If the directors were to do their job (in accordance with the CL) and ensure that the interests of all shareholders are maximised, they would put up a pretty stiff defence: drill out the full extent of the resource, take it through to JORC, complete the scoping study and get it into production as quickly as possible.
Unless of course the market started cranking again, in which case, it might make sense to look at a takeover at some point.
To me, if the views being put forward reflect some sort of reality, then something doesn't add up.
And, we know that there are some pretty smart posters on this thread.
Therefore, something tells me we're not being told the full story????
