Usually by a bigger company via a scrip offer, it's a short term sugar hit for the sp and generally puts a floor in the sp. The sp may fluctuate but it's fluctuations will be tied to that of the buyer.
Recently went through the whole process with MIN buying NWE. I sold on market for cash rather than get scrip from those pricks at MIN.
