It’s been bandied about for years that BEN should merge with one of the other
”smaller” banks to create a stronger “fifth pillar” more able to compete with the big 4
Politically it would in theory be attractive ( and probably well received by the Government, ACCC and whoever )
But despite speculation going way back,
it hasn’t happened.
Will it ever happen?
Who knows!
