It makes sense! Senex have mentioned a Hornet JV partner being a work in progress in the majority of announcements. Perhaps the talks aren't striking the deal that Senex would like and Davies is now trying to say "look if you don't offer something in our interest, we will look at other options" such as merging with someone like AWE who have strong cash flows to help fund the Hornet development.
I think Davies realises how huge Hornet could/will be and isn't going to let someone farm in cheaply IMO.
