    The truth of the matter was that Barrick looked at Kare but at the time they did not want it, principally because of the Blue Dirt (high silver/low gold).
    It was not a matter of insufficient 'proven resourses' according to Barricks logic.
    Barricks view was that they might consider the project but only so as to mine the dirt in about 15 years.
    They would have not got approval for the transfer in this case.
    Size matters for Barrick but having said that they did buy another project (Kainantu, which was a popcorn fart).
    Another imortant consideration for Barrick were landowner issues.
    It's complicated.
    Remember, Porgera has probably spilled out through its mill into tailings anything up to 5,000,000 oz or more gold equiv since the commencement of operations and that will give some relative idea of the scale and grade of Porgera.
