Nothing new about Westpac or QBE running the ruler over SUN given they did so last year.
QBE chief stated publicly his desire on getting SUN,
Westpac also had a team working on a SUN takeover in their Project Winter.
Gail Kelly also expressed an interest in SUN but did not want the insurance business.
Now that Kelly is in charge at Westpac (who are weak in Queensland) she may well have glance over what came through in project Winter.
QBE, WBC and SGB - interesting names to be reappearing in 2008.
Nothing new here folks, this was all info in the public domain. And let's not forget the entity from Europe/UK that stated they would be interested in SUN if it fell enough - well it has, around 48% in five months.
Ther is plenty going on here - where it leads to is anyone's guess.
