Perhaps SLR or RMS could be interested, but I doubt that they would offer cash or any premium, just a merger of equals to improve market visibility of the companies due to the much higher production level from the t/o.
I bought some shares yesterday for the first time in many months on higher gold price hopium that this would make their high forward capex spend less of a concern, and also improve operating margins.
There are lots of problems with SBM and the CEO seems to be floundering, but SBM seems cheap relative to other goldies, if a turnaround can succeed.
SBM should see some improvement this quarter in cashflow due to a higher gold price, some production from Simberi and access to better ore grade at Atlantic Gold.
Looking forward to the DFS on the Simberi sulphide project, which will benefit from the higher USD POG.
I suppose most of this mornings SP gains are due to the AFR article.
