China and the US are locked in a resources Cold War. They both know the climate change transition is huge money (whether they care/believe in it is irrelevant). China currently manufactures and supplies over half of all green tech from an infographic someone posted here a few weeks ago. Imagine if in 5-10 years of china do what they did with the world’s recycling and pull the pin? Everyone would lose their minds and whole countries/the world would fall behind on the transition etc.
notwithstanding a physical war, there is going to be some collateral damage from what they do in the next 10 years and who knows what it’ll be.
