Singapore's Olam International Ltd today announced the acquisition of 20k acres of Timbercorp's almond orchards.
On their website they included an investor presentation detailing their strategy.
Refer to slides 13 & 14 showing their indication of plans to expand by acquisition and their intent to enter into the food processing in Australia.
Sounds to me like a purchase of SHV would be a perfect fit for their proposed strategy. SHV manages 38k acres of orchards (20k just acquired by Olam) as well as owning their own orchards of about 3.5k acres plus their processing equipment and food products division. SHV is currently capitalised at about $145m.
