Interesting bit of history is that the Australian division of Lactalis was formerly Parmalat. Lactalis had a majority shareholding of Parmalat and recently took it over outright. They operate a few dairy brands, the largest being Pauls milk.

Parmalat was vehemently against A2, so much so that back in 2014 they hired a PR company to run a campaign against them to discredit the A2 science. Like Lion dairy, they also challenged A2M use of trademark and lost. As well as losing share to A2 I believe at the time they had just launched the lactose-free milk alternative Zymil which could be part of the reason for they were so actively running opposition.

Also around the same time, A2M had a licensing partnership with Jalna selling A2 branded yoghurt, which lasted several years from memory.

I had half wondered if, with A2 management apparently looking out for acquisition opportunities, whether Jalna might have been on their radar too. $200M price tag would have been affordable but it wasn't really clear whether it could fit with their overall strategy. Given the history though, it does make you wonder whether it was considered.
