Dearie is gone but Australian article yesterday indicated he was working with private equity to try to put a bid together.
Agree they need to improve many aspects of the business but PE will likely do a better job. It is the difficulties and downgrades that have pulled share price back by near 50%, that also provides the opportunity for someone to buy it at a reasonable price.
PE love brandnames and in wine they don't get much better than Penfolds, Rosemount, Lindemands, Wolf Blass, Beringer, Seppelt, etc.
