Hi Mikrokosmos and to all,
concerning to your thoughts about stock manipulation I beg to differ as follows:
1) Roughly accumulated we have seen a volume of about 500,000 shares daily in recent weeks. This is nothing more than 0,1 percent off all shares in the market. That leads me to the conclusion:
There is almost no significant share trading going on at the moment!
2) By the time the resource update was published we had a total turnover of 10 to 15 percent of all shares. That was fairly disappoitning in my opinion, especially having expected much more increase by the extraordinary 120 percent resource's rise. These 50 to 60 mio share where more or less quote modest, to say it diplomatically.
3) Sell on good news. I assume, that was exactly what happened shortly after the resource update in March. Bought at 10 Cent and sold at 20 was pretty much of a lucky deal. That is simply professional. Wait to the next update and replay that game, anyway whether you are professional or small investor. Usual business. Many of us are driving on a t/o scenario. But one can make loads of Dollars in between.
Just imagine for fun if you had a stake of 1,000k MEY shares that you had been able to buy at 10 and sold at 20 twice the last year. Pretty much win, maybe 200.000 AUSD, depending on your tax and assuming an average basic share price of 15 Cent. I know this calculation is kind of a half-baked scheme and it's optimized furthermore. But good investors, I mean the ones who are make a living out of that job, just want to trade their shares, nothing more, nothing less. Not all investors are keen on a t/o happy end.
4) It might be, the share price is flanked by bot trading (by the way, thanks to raiderup for the link http://www.smh.com.au/business/meet-the-hightech-traders-making-millions-20091106-i1ri.html ). Perhaps a resourceful trader is running a intelligent program that provides him with small and nice money every day, automaticly and without having any work to do. That's OK. That's common in keeping down the volatility of corporate bonds for example. But no evidence of stock manipulating to me, particularly at this extremely low volume we have here on MEY.
On balance I cannot find a sound reason that the share price is intentionally or abusingly manipulated. As far as I can see there is just no interest by investors at all, the trade volume is nearly at zero. Anyone who has a stake of some 100k could be able to "manipulate MEY's share price - an order flat rate given.
Just my personal opinion on manipulation speculations.
