45c is a ridicously low offer (but this is business an ya can't blame them for trying), a bid at 75-80c is just coming into the "take it seriously" ballpark. Some folk here are comparing the current takeover of EKA by AUT to the takeover of ADI by AWE some 18mths ago. There are a number of differences , but the one fundamental difference of note is that one single long term shareholder of EKA (not a director) holds in excess of 10% of EKA's shares wihich effectively prevents AUT from compulsory acquiring EKA's shares (as was the case when AWE took over ADI) .. without this individual's consent. This one share holder holds the "balance of power"

IMO, AUT will have to substantially increase their offer if they want their bid to be considered seriously
