Strategy

ASI MUTAL creates value by (i) acquiring significant or substantial ownership positions in undervalued listed companies and (ii) engaging and working with the boards and management teams of those companies to increase their long-term capability and competitiveness, which should as a consequence, create real value for all shareholders and other stakeholders.

ASI MUTUAL more generally will invest in sound companies that are poorly governed, are overlooked by sell-side analysts, misunderstood by the market and out-of-favour with the investing market.

ASI MUTUAL will, once the investment is made, seek to work in a hands-on and constructive manner to realise value through changes in the investee company’s operations, corporate strategy/organisational structure, financial management and corporate governance in no particular order.

ASI MUTUAL manages a concentrated portfolio, holding significant ownership positions in a limited number of publicly listed companies for the medium long term. As a consequence, the company maintains an active and strong commitment to each of its investments.
Investment Process

Prior to making any investment, ASI Mutual will commit considerable research time and resources to develop a deep understanding of a target company and its prospects. We look deeply into the company’s fundamentals and areas where value can be enhanced.

ASI Mutual’s investment decisions are underpinned by a well-informed, rigorous and proprietary fundamental research process, which includes comprehensive operational, commercial, financial, and governance analysis. Such research will normally take several months of in-depth analysis.

Once it becomes a part owner of a listed Company, ASI Mutual will seek to engage and work with that Company to increase its long-term competitiveness, which in practical terms should create meaningful value for all shareholders. As part of the investment process, ASI Mutual members or associates may be invited to join the boards of portfolio companies, which is considered as a positive and a reflection of its engaging and constructive, investment approach.​
