it’s possibly a revenge move to cap the price (so performance shares don’t vest) - must be hard to swallow being booted out of a business you founded.
(I would also be crushed if someone RTO’ed my business. Devastated even.)
Dripping shares on market as opposed to a block trade. Also delays the vote on the name change. Which no doubt would frustrate management.
