I tend to think that the bots are over-rated.
We now have bots trying to predict the other bots, so it becomes an endless loop that causes havoc to the volume. Plus for us old-timers the traditional trend-lines and technical analysis ceases to be as accurate.
The only bots that are probably doing ok are the currency ones that either 1) find arbitrage trades between brokers or exchanges, or 2) due to bugger-all latency, they beat other brokers to trades when they see larger orders come in. These bots live on super high-speed frequency servers located next door to the exchanges.
Saying that, I have created a gold trading bot. But the problem is that I intervene and open additional trades and also close opened trades before they hit their target condition. Now after 6+ months of trading only 65% of trades are automated, the rest are manual. Here are the results...
