ihug and NetComm offer fully Australian ADSL package
“Australia’s own NetComm reaches agreement with leading ISP, ihug, on a deal
projected to be worth more than $1.2 million.”
NetComm Limited (ASX: NTC), today announced that it has been appointed by ihug as
exclusive supplier of ADSL modems and routers in Australia.
The deal is expected to mean
sales of more than $1.2 million to the Australian data communications company over the next
18-24 months.
The deal between the two companies coincides with ihug’s national roll out. ihug ADSL is
currently available in New South Wales and will be available in Queensland, Victoria, South
Australia and Northern Territory by April.
“It’s a big win for Australian tech business,” said David Stewart, MD of NetComm. “NetComm
is Australia’s leading communications brands, and ihug is one of Australia’s leading ISPs, so
we are delighted that our two strong brands are working together to deliver NetComm
products to ihug’s ADSL subscribers,” said David Stewart, MD of NetComm.
NetComm beat off fierce multinational competition to win the deal with ihug, and in the end
won on the strength of the NetComm brand, the reliability of its products, and the fact that
NetComm is an Australian-owned and Australian-focused company with local support and
development.
“NetComm has long been recognised as the leading supplier of communications products to
SMEs and consumers. That and the fact that it is Australian-owned attracted us to its ADSL
products,” said Gareth Bissland, ihug’s General Manager.
NetComm has already commenced shipping ADSL products to ihug, and is also providing
accessories such as ADSL filters and central splitters.
ihug projects enormous growth in their ADSL offering over the next 1-2 years, so this deal
means that NetComm is cementing itself as one of Australia’s leading suppliers of ADSL
equipment.
