I live in Tassie, and Lake Barrington is less than 10 minutes away. I was fishing the lake last Sunday and caught an Atlantic salmon - in fact 2, but one escaped just as I was getting the net under it. Great fun to catch although it tasted pretty ordinary - very muddy. As you say, burned out farm hens!

Another friend had his boat out at the other end of the the lake at the same time and caught nothing - except a visit from the boys in blue later in the week. Apparently he was trolling and wandered inside the 2000m exclusion zone for the Devils Gate Dam (the warning signs have been "souvenired").

He noticed someone on the bank observing him through binoculars but thought nothing of it. He had no sticks of bang on board, and was all legal and licensed - or so he thought.

He got a knock on the door a couple of nights later and received a formal warning from the marine police for intruding on the exclusion zone. Next time he could loose his boat licence and possibly his boat!
