ASX reported 2.3m new shorts (sells) for 12-17 May (ASX does not report on short covering ie buys).
ASIC's latest report on total outstanding shorts shows they increased across 12-17 May by over 2.1m. So most of those 2.3m new shorts had not been
covered as at 17 May. (ASIC will report today on 18 May).
ASX has reported low new shorts on the subsequent trading days 18-22 May, totalling only 130k.
This has been a concerted shorting attack &, as I have learnt previously with shorting, I wouldn't try to guess what they are up to or what their next move will be - shorting is often far from logical & certainly not always successful.
