@sanj3006 Understand, but the Sami are not really a tribe. They are a people with a traditional lifestyle. Some of them are nomadic reindeer herders. The deal is not about land ownership either, it's about traditional land usage. It's complicated and well documented.

The question for the court is whether or not the two lower courts missed something significant when they ruled. The advocates for the Sami will try to say they did, and will have some additional evidence. But that evidence has to be compelling and significant, as well as new, and there has to be a good reason for it not having been tabled earlier

The justice who gets the case will take their time to look at the material and form a view. About one hundred of 6,000 appeals a year get up. The rest are not granted leave to appeal, because there is no precedent to consider- no significant error or significant missed evidence that could have made a difference in the first place, and has a good reason for not being brought forward in the initial appeal.

And it's about old traditional lifestyles- so the justice is usually very considered. It's a sensitive topic. It's taking a while, but then, the advocate for the Sami knew it would. That's part of the reason for submitting it in the first place. We will know soon enough.
