Sweden's border was only more secure with US bases on the assumption that NATO would win in Ukraine. But if NATO troops and advisors flee Ukraine with the Russian army crashing down on them in scenes reminiscent of Afghanistan and Vietnam, then NATO will have lost all credibility and all future public support. What is the bomber supposed to be guarding exactly, and who is paying for it?
