It appears cases only get published on the Supreme Court website if leave to appeal is granted or a precedent is set.
If that’s around 2% or less of total cases filed, for every 1 on the SC website they could have got through at least 50 others with a rejected appeal that the public don’t hear about. This seems to bear out in the official statistics you can find online: approx 8000 cases in 2021 so they were looking at around 150 a week. But there’s only a couple a week that make it to the website.
So what’s likely to happen is if the appeal is rejected only the relevant parties will be notified and shareholders will find out with a surprise announcement one morning. I think the last thing we want is to find out the news via the SC website because it would not be good news.
and dbd25 honestly talk of picking up the phone to the judge is simply absurd. A foreign mining company getting priority direct access to the judiciary? Imagine the same happening in Australia and Adani had a hotline to a judge. It would be front page news, it’s not the way to start a 20+ year project.
