Mate, 'obscure mullah', seriously? Mullah Mohammed Omar is to the Taliban what Hitler was to the Nazis. Are you serious? He was their leader and under him they conquered Afghanistan.
There is mention of religious students called 'Taliban' pre-1994, there is NO mention of the specific group called the Taliban that conquered Afghanistan, because they DID NOT EXIST pre-1994.
